芸術で身を救うのさ

今日もGoDownに行ってきた。

スラムの女の子たちが撮影した写真展を見てきた。


デジカメで撮った写真をプリンタで印刷した展示会でその写真を販売して
彼女たちのプロジェクトに役立てようという写真展。
画素数の低いその写真を無理やり大きく印刷してるので写真の質はすこぶる低い。
それを10000Ksh（約1万6000円）ほどで販売しているのでおそらく購入した人はいない。

彼女たちはダンスも披露してくれた。

小学生から中学生ほどの子供たちのダンスはお遊戯会のようなものでかわいらしい物では
あったがダンスとしてはすこぶるレベルが低い。


だけどこのプロジェクトの可能性はすこぶる高いと思った。

GoDownが企画しているこのプロジェクトの概要はこうだ。


１．Life Skills Training：

Sexual/Reproductive health and HIV/AIDS education, gender and women's rights education, confidence building, team building, leadership building and facilitation training.

2. Arts and Action-based Programming:

theatre, photography, yoga, dance, creative writing, artistic expression, self-defense, and jewelry making.

3. Social Enterprise:

Training in financial literacy, project management, graphic design.

4.Ctiywide Exchanges:

Space to meet and exchange ideas with other female led programs around Nairobi, to share best practices and learn from each other's experiences in the urban slum context.

5.Mentorship and Role Modeling:

Monthly invitations for young Kenyan female professionals to connect with the girls, expose them to new career oppotunities, and help to set goals for the girls future success.



思うに芸術というのは見て楽しむものではない。
もちろんプロのそれは見て楽しめるものでなければならない。

でも芸術はプロのためのものではない。

芸術を通して最も社会的に弱いスラムの少女たちが自信を持って生きていけるようになるという可能性をこのプロジェクトで強く感じた。


彼女たちの写真やダンスは正直言って金になる物ではない。

だけど彼女たちに写真について質問したときの活き活きとした表情で答える姿を見て
芸術の本来の意味が見えたような気がする。


こうしたプロジェクトが数多く実施されていくことを願う。
アフリカだけでなく日本においても。。
